What the hell do I know about raising a baby? Nothing. Not a goddamn thing.
Yet here I am, the sole guardian of my niece. I’d be lost if it weren’t for Katherine, the beautiful girl who seems to have all the answers. Katherine, who’s slowly finding her way into my cynical heart.
I keep reminding myself that I can’t fall for someone when we don’t have a future. But telling myself this lie and believing it are two different things.
When Brady shows up on a Harley, looking like an avenging angel—six feet, three inches of chiseled muscle, eyes the color of wild sage, and sun-kissed skin emblazoned with tattoos—I’m not sure if I should fall at his feet or run like hell. Because if I tell him what happened the night his family died, he might hate me.
What I don’t count on are the nights we spend together trying to forget the heartache that brought us here. I promise him it won’t mean anything, that I won’t fall in love.
I shouldn’t make promises I can’t keep.
There’s something about Lex Martin’s books that just works for me every single time! It might be the great writing? The remarkable characters? Or maybe it’s the stories packed with heart and steam? I can’t say but I know is that each time I pick up one of her book the story ensnares me and she did it again with Shameless.
She’s sweet and thoughtful. Funny and outgoing. The girl-next-door but also incredibly sexy without even trying.
She was staying with her bestfriend when due to tragedy she was left with having to care for the farm and her best friend’s baby. She’s an endearing character. She’s both strong and unsure of herself. She’s fierce yet sweet. In other words, she is completely real and relatable. I found myself loving her.
Brady is gruff and rough around the edges, and on the other, there’s a tenderness about him that screams husband material.
He’s the brother of the husband of Katherine’s bestfriend and was given the right to take over the care of his baby niece so he had to leave Boston and go to Texas. He’s edgy, biting and all sharp edges. Now imagine that big intense tatted up guy holding a baby. Yep. Ovaries exploded. He has this tenderness underneath all that intimidating exterior. He’s caring, smart guy with a heart of gold. Trapped in a situation that could break anyone, the last thing he needs is the complication of a relationship. He tries to avoid the connection he feels for Katherine but it turns out that she’s exactly what he needs! These two are perfect together. Their banter is fun, their romance is sweet and their chemistry is hotttt!!! And, as each of them battles their own problems, they become each others’ support and comfort! I loved them!
Overall, Shameless has a great plot with an emotional punch and humor, lovable characters, and a heartwarming and panty-melting romance. I absolutely enjoyed it and would recommend for you to read it!
